As there is with any medical procedure, lip filler comes with some potential risks and side effects clients should consider before undergoing treatment.
-Swelling
-Bruising
-Asymmetry
-Textural irregularities
These risks are extremely rare but worth noting:
-Allergic reaction
-Necrosis
-Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 to 48 hours after treatment
-Stay hydrated and drink plenty of water
-Avoid high temperatures like steam rooms, saunas, or heated exercise classes for 48 hours after treatment.
-Avoid makeup on your lips for up to 24 hours after.
-Avoid blood thinners such as Ibuprofen and fish oil tablets.
To assist with bruising, Arnica tablets may be recommended.
Applying ice lightly to the lips afterwards can assist with swelling.
Numbing cream is applied to clients lips for 20 minutes prior to injection, to assist with pain management. Lidocaine, a numbing agent, is also apparent within the filler to decrease discomfort.
