The difference between Anti-wrinkle injections and Dermal Filler

The difference between Anti-wrinkle injections and Dermal Filler

The line or ‘lines’ between Anti Wrinkle treatments and Dermal Fillers can sometimes seem a bit blurred. If you’re just starting to look into injectables it might feel confusing working out which is best for treating your areas of concern. We only use the best products in the market from globally recognized pharmaceutical companies.

Anti Wrinkle treatments are comprised of the botulinum toxin group of which there are two or three key players. The difference between the two comes down to varying trace protein amounts. This can make one treatment more effective than another for some people, but for the most part, each has exactly the same desired outcome and efficacy.

.

Botulinum neurotoxin is a group of molecules produced by the bacteria clostridium botulinum. In aesthetics, it can be injected directly into the tiny muscles of facial expression to relax the muscle tension on the skin, relaxing the lines and wrinkles. The toxin is most popularly used in areas of ‘dynamic’ facial expression such as the frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines. It can also be used for eyebrow lifts, bunny lines, lip-flip, bruxism and hyperhidrosis. The injections are superficial and have been described as feeling like a little mozzie bite.

.

Dermal filler on the other hand, is made up of hyaluronic acid which is a sugar protein and is injected into areas of volume loss. We can inject filler into lips, cheeks, temples, jawline, chin and tear-troughs. There are many different consistencies and forms of fillers for use in different areas which your My Botique medical professional will walk you through each one and their benefits before tailoring your filler treatment to your ideal beauty goals.

.

So the bottom line? While Botulinum toxin is used to deal with wrinkles, it does so by paralyzing the muscles surrounding them. Fillers do exactly as their name suggests- fill in the areas they’re injected into. Both Botulinum toxin and dermal fillers can be used together and are often recommended for a beautiful harmonious outcome.
