MD Codes

MD Codes

There is a buzz in the cosmetic industry over the Dr Mauricio de Maio innovated way of treating emotional attributes. Labelled the MD Codes, the approach considers the full face and how the client feels about their face and what they want their face to tell the world. It is a technique not so focused on simply treating wrinkles/lines, but more so about treating the face holistically. MD Codes is based on a deep understanding of facial anatomy to provide consistently natural-looking results.

The medical professionals at My Botique are talented in a wide range of injecting techniques and enhancements, one of those techniques being MD Codes. We are big advocates of MD Code founder Dr Mauricio de Mario, and attend all his seminars when we are lucky enough to have him tour Australia. Invitations to his workshops are quite exclusive, so the My Botique professionals get a rare and intimate education into his fascinating approach to dermal filler.

.

So what exactly are MD Codes? MD Codes are a series of precise sites that are designed to guide the cosmetic injector. Each specific injection site is represented by a combination of letters and numbers. They target areas that the patient wants to be rebuilt due to possible volume loss that unfortunately comes with ageing, or treated because they would like an area enhancing such as more voluptuous lips, improved face contouring like a more defined jawline or chin and even correct structural deficits, such as asymmetry. Every patient may not need all the MD code areas treated and they always need to be assessed and customised for each individual.

.

Utilising MD Codes enables precise and safe practice that helps achieve desired outcomes with consistent and reproducible results. MD Codes are also a fantastic way for patients to understand their treatment allowing the injector to work in partnership discussing the appropriate codes for their individual treatment plan. It allows the patient to gain a better understanding of why we are injecting a specific area, how much product will be needed to achieve the desired result and possible cost implications. It allows for a long-term treatment plan to be developed, understood and achieved.

As we age, we are continuously losing volume from our face, approximately 1% of facial volume every year and around 40mls by the time we reach the age of 40. We lose fat from the fat pads under the skin, our ligaments get lax and we resorb bone from our skull which changes its shape. The good news is that well-placed dermal fillers can replenish some of this loss and dramatically rejuvenate a face. For an optimal result, it is normal for several MLS to be used to create the desired natural outcome, over 10-20MLS are often used over a period of 12 months and still create very natural rejuvenation of the face. However, although we all tend to age in the same way, most of us have one or two areas of particular concern and if cost is a concern just concentrating on improving these areas can make a dramatic difference and with a step by step treatment plan cost can be spread over 12-24 month period and the beauty of filler treatments is that they can last as long as 2 years or more.
